Community Solutions for children, families and individuals will take part as a full partner in the expansion of the Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) immediate response pilot project as part of its continued commitment to providing advocacy and support to victims of domestic violence and their children.

Community Solutions’ role in this project includes the hiring, training and supervision of a fulltime bilingual (English/Spanish) Victim Advocate. Community Solutions has hired Lisa Ramos, a seasoned domestic violence advocate, for this position.

Ramos will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to respond to the scene of domestic violence incidents in conjunction with law enforcement and social services (if children reside at the home). The Victim Advocate’s primary function is to afford the victim an opportunity to talk in a confidential setting about the incident and the situation, provide information on appropriate community resources, and work collaboratively with officers, detectives and social workers assigned to the case.

“It is very exciting to see the collaboration between law enforcement and Domestic Violence Advocates in South County,” said Ramos. “We all strive cooperatively to keep the women and children affected by domestic violence safe,” she concluded.

Community Solutions is a private not-for-profit agency serving South County and the surrounding areas. Last year the agency served more than 14,600 individuals.
