Morgan Hill – The Live Oak Acorns boys soccer team improved their record to 4-1 on the season and have won three consecutive games without allowing a goal by an opposing team. In the last week the Acorns have recorded wins over Mt. Pleasant, Santa Clara and Seaside as they get ready to head into Tri County Athletic League play against Palma on Tuesday.

The Acorns have played five games this season with five different lineups due to injuries to key starters. Live Oak suffered two huge losses when they lost sophomore jdkfjd Mott to a torn ACL before the first preseason game and then lost his brother senior Nick Mott, also to a torn ACL, during the second game. Nick was a first team all-league player last season.

“We have guys stepping up and making a difference,” said Acorns coach Tony Goble. “We’re trying to get better every game and our goal is to get better going into league.”

On Thursday, Live Oak shutout Seaside, 4-0, and dominated the entire match. The Acorns had 15 shots on goal and didn’t have any save from the goalkeeper because Seaside wasn’t able to get any real quality shots near the goal.

Garrett Frechette, Robert Adam, Baldomero Perez and Jose Luna each scored a goal for Live Oak in the win.

“Seaside put seven or eight guys back on defense that just sat back there,” said Goble. “They play for the tie and it was difficult to get that first goal. We found a way.”
