Live Oak faces uphill battle with small numbers; Matsumoto
continues to dominate opponents
Morgan Hill – The Live Oak Acorns boys tennis team avoided being swept by the Salinas Cowboys on Thursday at home on the strength of their No. 1 singles player, Eric Matsumoto.

Matsumoto defeated Frank Maceira, 6-3, 6-2, giving the Acorns their only win in the loss against Salinas, 6-1.

Live Oak was forced to default their No. 4 singles match due to lack of players.

Acorn Jimmy Shedden was defeated by Jeff Hill, 6-0, 6-2, and Live Oak’s Kevin Parsons fell to Ryan Shimizu, 6-0, 6-2.

Salinas swept doubles action as the Acorns teams of Scott Alexander and Jake Plafker, Mason Lammers and BJ Heinan and Mike Acevedo and Chiraag Vyas fell to the tough Cowboys.

Live Oak’s match against Palma on Tuesday was canceled due to rain and will be rescheduled.
