Sophomore Brian Costello scored four goals to lead the Acorn offense, while senior Sean Gullery scored three goals, sophomore Conner Williamson added another and had an assist, and sophomore Scott Alexander added an assist.
Key plays from juniors Rickey Lasher and Chase Norman, along with senior Matt Edgar were crucial to the win. Together, the Acorns were able to limit Pioneer’s constant pressure and break through the opposing defense.
On Friday, Live Oak plays first-place Milpitas at 8pm. The Acorns won the first meeting between the two teams this season but were forced to forfeit the match because they didn’t have enough players.
