Voters who would like to receive an absentee ballot by mail must submit a written request to the Registrar of Voters’ Office no later than 5 pm, Tuesday, Oct. 31. Absentee applications are available on the back cover of the sample ballot and online at www.sccvote.org. Requests may be mailed to P.O. Box 1740, San Jose, 95109 or faxed to (408) 293-6002.
Voters can also sign up for permanent absentee voting to automatically receive an absentee ballot before every election. Permanent absentee voting is open to all registered voters. Â
Absentee ballots must be received by the registrar’s office no later than 8pm on Election Day. Ballots can be mailed or returned in person to the registrar’s office. They can also be returned to any Santa Clara County polling place on Election Day.
Voters who miss the Oct. 31 deadline can still pick up an absentee ballot in person at the registrar’s office during early voting hours Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm. Early voting will also be available during the last two weekends before the election: Saturday, Oct. 28, Saturday, Nov. 4, and Sunday, Nov. 5, 9am to 3pm each day.
