SPORTS SHORTS: LOHS, SHS taking part in Dig Pink girls volleyball event Saturday

The 29th Annual Wildflower Run is Sunday at Live Oak High School, 1505 E. Main Ave.

Presented by the Morgan Hill branch of the American Association of University Women, the event includes a 10K run, 5K run or walk and a 2K run for children ages 5-10. Proceeds fund scholarships for local women and girls.

All participants receive T-shirts and Jamba Juice smoothies. Prizes will go to the top finishers, and medals to the age group winners and all 2K runners.

Registration is $35 for adults and $25 for children ages 12 and under. Special rates are available for families and groups of 10 or more.

NFL Flag Football

Registration for South Valley Flag Football’s spring season is underway.

Dedicated to providing high-quality, NFL Flag Football for boys and girls ages 4-14, SVFF has run leagues in the Morgan Hill area since 2004.

The cost to play is $110 for 10 games, plus the player combine, end-of-season jamboree, NFL logo jersey and flags, T-shirt, shorts, socks and more.

NFL Flag Football is five on five, noncontact and emphasizes skill development, equal playing time, life lessons and teamwork – plus it’s fun to play.

SV Wine Auction & Food Fest

The 14th Annual South Valley Wine Auction & Food Fest will be held 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road.

The premiere wine and food event of South County benefits Morgan Hill Schools’ athletic programs. It will feature 12 great local restaurants and wineries.

Take home treasures from the silent auction, loaded with entertainment bargains and valuable services. Hosted by KBAY’s Jona Denz-Hamilton, the live auction will offer exciting prizes as well.

USYVL looking for volunteers; registration open

The U.S. Youth Volleyball League is looking for volunteer coaches, site directors and volleyball instructors for its spring season.

Volunteers must be great with kids, dependable and enthusiastic. Volunteering with the USYVL is a great opportunity to work with youths in promoting their confidence and self-esteem while sharing with them the sport of volleyball.

Registration is open for the eight-week instructional season, which will run April to June at Paradise Park in Morgan Hill. It is open to boys and girls ages 7-15.

The USYVL provides a great opportunity for parents to spend time with their kids as they learn the game with emphasis on sportsmanship, cooperation and teamwork.
