Morgan Hill City Council Chamber

S&P Global Ratings has reaffirmed Morgan Hill’s AAA issuer credit rating, the highest possible, with a stable outlook, city officials announced Oct. 26.

The rating reflects the city’s strong financial management, healthy reserves and overall fiscal stability, according to the city.

S&P cited Morgan Hill’s strong local economy, growing tax base, substantial financial reserves, sound financial management practices and low debt burden. The agency also recognized the city’s long-term financial planning and commitment to fiscal responsibility.

Although the city faces budget challenges, including rising public safety and personnel costs, S&P noted that its financial reserves provide flexibility as officials work toward long-term budget sustainability.

“This reaffirmation reflects the City Council’s commitment to responsible financial stewardship and the City’s continued efforts to maintain a strong financial foundation for our community,” City Manager Christina Turner said in a statement.

The AAA rating can help the city secure favorable borrowing rates for future infrastructure projects and other community investments.

The city said it will continue focusing on fiscal responsibility, transparency and long-term financial sustainability to support essential services for residents and businesses.
