Born in Mogollon, New Mexico, he served in World War II as an infantryman in the 329th Infantry Division in the European Theater. After the war, he worked as a sound engineer for the Motion Picture Industry in Los Angeles for over 25 years. He moved to Morgan Hill with his loving wife, Minnie Lee, in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Lee Archbell, his daughter, Sharon Leonard, his grandchildren Joe Leonard and Wendy Leonard, granddaughter-in-law Cyndi Leonard, and great -grandchildren Dylan and Kyle Leonard.
