In the last couple of months there was some work being done at the new location and for last number of weeks no activity at all. My understanding was that the new dealer was supposed to be operational by the end of this year. Can you give us an update?”
Red Phone: Dear Wants an Update, Red Phone contacted Garrett Toy, business assistance and housing services director, who said that it is the city’s understanding from the contractor that work should be completed in March or April depending on the weather.
So, good caller, looks like new cars will be rolling off the lot come spring.
Brokers still trying to fill old Mervyn’s
“Red Phone, we need to contact Sears or JC Penny’s to put a clothing and appliance store where the old Mervyn’s used to be. I really miss the Mervyn’s clothing store.”
Red Phone: Dear Misses Mervyn’s, Red Phone contacted Garrett Toy, business assistance and housing services director, who said “the brokers for the property have contacted numerous retailers including department stores, but no entity has expressed any interest at this time.”

Web poll seems to have an error
“Dear Red Phone, it has come to my attention several times that the polls in the paper are misleading with the bar part of the poll not matching the percentage, like the ‘Did you shop Black Friday?’ question where the bar was bigger for ‘yes’ but closer examination shows that ‘yes’ only collected 22 percent of the vote.”
Red Phone: Dear Spotted the Mistake, the discrepancy is a result of a page designer’s mistake. It’s not accomplished automatically, rather they must manually stretch or shrink the bar to match the percentage, and once in a great while it’s not done.
