A pursuit that began at 2:38 p.m. Monday in San Francisco came to an abrupt end about an hour later on U.S. 101, 1.5 miles north of the Coyote Creek exit north of Morgan Hill.

CHP arrested Yangho Ha, 29, of San Francisco, on a felony charge of evading police when several tires on his car disintegrated.

San Jose area CHP spokesman Les Bishop said Ha was driving in and out of afternoon commute traffic at speeds that reached 80 mph at times. Ha also drove into the center divider many times during the chase.

The chase attracted a television news helicopter and at least three vans from news stations.

Further details were unavailable at press time.
