Morgan Hill based AssurX recently announced that Fischer Imaging Corporation has selected AssurX’s CATSWeb for its corporate-wide quality tracking system.
AssurX is a privately funded company and provider of quality tracking information systems for companies both domestically and internationally.
AssurX opened in 1993 as a small company in Morgan Hill and has training facilities in San Jose and Northbrook, Ill.
The company currently has more than 200 clients that stretch world wide in many industries. Some of the big names that AssurX works with are Alcon Labs, Bausch and Lomb, Boston Scientific and Hewlett Packard.
“Our out-of-the-box capability combined with easy adaptability to our customers’ various needs sets us apart,” said AssurX Product Manager Sal Lucido. “Customers find our point-and-click administration tools are intuitive, easy to use, and powerful. We are helping medical device and diagnostic companies such as Fischer Imaging successfully deploy their systems.”
There are training facilities in other places across the country. Company spokespearson Tamar June said AssurX has people working around the country out of their homes, and they make house calls to their customers.
June refused to say how many employees the company has. She claims that releasing such information would give the competition the upper hand.
“We would much rather have other companies either over estimate us or under estimate us,” June said. “We are in an incredibly competitive niche. We won’t release anything that could help the competition.”
Fischer wanted a process for its systems after having many unconnected databases that were hard to coordinate, June said.
“We selected CATSWeb because it was user friendly and we could easily customize our workflow ourselves,” said Samir Paliwal, regulatory affairs and quality assurance director for Fischer Imaging Corporation. “Other systems we looked at either required the software vendor to perform all customizations or were not as user friendly. This was simply not feasible.”
“CATSWeb will allow us to merge all of our existing databases and to query across various stages of the manufacturing processes,” Paliwal added. “In addition to automating our processes, we will also be integrating CATSWeb with our ERP system.”
Fischer Imaging Corporation designs, manufactures, and markets specialty medical imaging systems for the screening and diagnosis of disease. The company’s focus area is women’s health, particularly the diagnosis and screening of breast cancer.
Fischer’s radiology, electrophysiology and surgery division have produced general-purpose x-ray imaging systems since 1910, making the company the oldest manufacturer of x-ray imaging devices in the United States.
The CATSWeb software allows people to track information like complaints, customer problems, safety issues and product quality over the web.
It is used by a wide variety of companies who need to track data. The software can be used with any operating system, so long as an Internet connection is available.
