October 10
n Grand theft: A construction company reported a site on Bellini Way was burglarized overnight. Ten power cords, valued at $450 each, were stolen. The cords were left 45 feet in the air on a forklift, so someone would have had to climb up to get them, they told police. The report was taken at 7:51am.
n Vandalism: Asco Air Conditioning on Railroad Avenue reported the back gate chain was broken, and front glass of the business was shattered, but nothing was stolen. The report was taken at 8:27am.
n Vandalism: A resident of Burnett Avenue reported a window of their vehicle was shattered overnight. The report was taken at 2:26pm.
n Identity theft: A resident of Via Loma reported they received a collection call from Old Navy for $625.87, but the resident has never opened an account with Old Navy. The report was taken at 2:42pm.
n Petty theft: A Morgan Hill resident reported their cell phone was stolen while they were at the Mama Mia’s restaurant on East Dunne Avenue. The report was taken at 7:42pm.
October 11
n Fraud: Bank of the West in Tennant Station shopping center reported a customer tried to deposit a fraudulent check into his account. The report was taken at 3:49pm.
n Burglary: Extended Stay America on Jarvis Drive reported a “disgruntled worker” was fired the day before, and the worker had “taken an interest” in the manager’s exotic hairless rat, valued at $100, and the rat was stolen. The report was taken at 7:21pm.
October 12
n Petty theft: A resident of Gallop Drive reported light bulbs were stolen from light fixtures in her front yard overnight. She told police she also had problems with people stealing the agapantha plants from her yard. The report was taken at 2:18pm.
October 13
n Suspicious circumstances: A Morgan Hill resident reported her 13-year-old daughter was walking home from Britton Middle School on Monterey Road when a male suspect in a vehicle, possibly a Honda, with a license plate in the back window, tried to talk to her. The girl told the suspect to go away and continued walking southbound on Monterey. The suspect followed her, trying to coax her into the vehicle. The girl saw a friend in the BookSmart store downtown and went into the store. The suspect drove away. The report was taken at 5:05pm.
n Petty theft: Coyote Estates Construction reported someone stole lumber from a construction site at Peet Road and Cochrane Road. There is a witness who can identify the suspect. The report was taken at 6:47pm.
n Petty theft: Valero gas station on Monterey Road reported the credit card machine at a gas pump was not working, so the gas station clerk asked the customer for his driver’s license so he could go get cash, but the man became angry and left without paying. The report was taken at 8:51pm.
n Arrest: Brian A. Sellen, 26, of Morgan Hill was taken to county jail charged with possession of a controlled substance. The report was taken at 10:54pm.
October 14
n Auto burglary: A Morgan Hill resident reported their unlocked Buick Century was entered while it was parked at Albertson’s grocery store on Monterey Road. A backpack containing a birth certificate, G.E.D. and xeroxed copies of identification was stolen. The report was taken at 10:37am.
n Vandalism: A Morgan Hill resident reported a window of their Escalade was shattered overnight while parked on East Main Avenue. The report was taken at 11:49am.
