Have you ever struggled to find a place for a group to hold a meeting?

One of the little-known services of the Morgan Hill Library is a community meeting room available for public use. The room isn’t large or grand, but is equipped with tables and chairs for up to 25 persons and a great view of El Toro.

To be eligible to use the room, the meeting must be free and open to the public. Eligible organizations include civic, school, and non-profit groups. The room is available from the time the Library opens until 11 pm. (Library hours are Monday and Tuesday, 1-9 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

The room may be booked by phone but an application form and $5 payment must be completed at the reference desk prior to the meeting. The room may be reserved up to 12 months in advance and up to two times per month on a first-come, first-served basis.

County Library policy prohibits the use of the meeting room for commercial purposes, including the use by organizations that are making sales or solicitations, or whose primary purpose for holding the meeting is to sell or solicit names for future sales.

For a full description of procedures regarding the use of the Library’s community room, contact the Adult Reference Desk, at 779-3196.

Questions and suggested topics for At the Library, which appears in Tuesday editions, should be directed to Nancy Howe, community librarian, at nh***@**********************ca.us or by calling 779-3196. The Morgan Hill Library, located at the corner of Peak and West Main avenues next to City Hall, is open every day but Sunday.
