A Morgan Hill man was killed late Monday when he was thrown from his vehicle as it rolled down an embankment.
Louis Ramirez, 31, was driving a Chevy pickup on northbound Highway 101 at approximately 10:17 p.m. He took the Bernal Road off-ramp, and the truck then left the roadway on the east side and rolled twice down the embankment.
Ramirez was thrown from the truck, which continued down until colliding with a fence. According to CHP Officer Terry Mayes, Ramirez landed in the road, and other vehicles blocked the roadway until paramedics arrived so he would not be hit by a vehicle.
Ramirez was not wearing a seatbelt.
“We do not know why he drove off the road,” CHP Officer Terry Mayes said. “It appears there were no witnesses.”
Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident investigation is ongoing.
