Live Oak, which is winless in league, put up a good fight against Hollister Friday night but lost 51-43.

The Acorns, who improved a lot since their 57-29 loss the last times the teams played, started off the game with a 12-4 run thanks to the play of Leanne Lopez, who had five of her 15 points in the first quarter.

Live Oak was down just 20-17 at the half after Amanda Lytle sank a long three-pointer as the buzzer sounded.

Adrienne Terry had nine points. Melissa Llanes had eight. Elena Guevera had four, and Ruth Dominguez and Dana Kline both had buckets.

The Acorns will play North Salinas Tuesday.
