Mary Edna Taulbee September 29, 1936 – September 15, 2012 Mary Edna Taulbee passed away on Sunday September 15, 2012. Mom fought a difficult fight against an ugly disease called cancer. She was brave beyond words and more than anything else, she didn’t want to leave her children.
Mom was born on September 29, 1936 in Muncie, IN. Mom married our dad, Fred E. Taulbee and moved to California with their children Jeanie and Bob Taulbee and began their adventure through life together, Two other children were born later in California, Nick Taulbee and Carol (Taulbee) Noski. This made Mom’s life complete, because she always wanted four children. We were all loved and cherished and we loved and cherished her as well.
Dad made a wonderful life for us in the tire business; Mom helped him with the business. Mom and Dad showed Tennessee Walking horses together and had ranches where they raised cattle. Dad preceded Mom in death on February 19, 1978, and she missed him every day. Now, we are sure they are together, never to be apart again.
Mom owned Garlic City Coffee and Tea on 5th Street in Gilroy for many years, and she enjoyed running the coffee shop. Our JavaMom loved her coffee, her employees and her many customers.
Mom loved to travel and visited more places than we can name here. Her most memorable trips were spent with her daughter, Carol. Mom’s last trip was with her niece, Becky Yamagami to visit her sister Donna in Minnesota. Together, the three of them took a trip to Niagara Falls some places in the US that she had never been to, but always wanted to see.
Mom was a VIP for the City of Gilroy. Mom loved volunteering for this organization and was so happy to be well enough to drive the shuttle from the Police Department to the Garlic Festival this year, as she had done in years past.
Mom leaves behind her children: Jeanie Taulbee (husband Brian), Bob Taulblee (wife June), Nick Taulbee (Partner Brenda), Carol Taulbee Noski (husband Jon), six grandchildren, Fred Potter, Michael Potter, Brenda Taulbee, Bobbi Taulbee, Una Fae Noski, and Gabrielle Taulbee, five great-grandchildren, Kale Potter, Jade Potter, Alexis Potter, Ashley Potter, and Talon Kingslover. Mom also leaves behind her last and dearest sister, Donna DeShazo of Minnesota many beloved nieces and nephews and friends.
We would like to thank Brenda Heintz and Elsie Slanaker for the friendship and care of Mom.
Mom was preceded in death by our Dad, Fred Taulbee, her parents, her brothers Harold and Don and her sister Beverly.
A viewing will be held at Habing Family Funeral Home from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 20, 2012, in Gilroy. Church service will be held at the Hollister Seventh Day Adventist Church at 11:30 A.M., Friday, September 21, 2012, followed by interment at Pajaro Valley Cemetery in Watsonville.
