James H. Weitz passed away in Hollister at the age of 72 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Victoria, TX. A veteran of three years in the US Army, Aug. 1958 to Aug. 1961, where he was trained as a combat engineer.

 He liked to fish, barbecue, garden, go to the casinos and he was a Dallas Cowboy fan. His generosity was known by all. He was a member of VFW Post 9242. He worked in steel construction for over 20 years. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.He is survived by his children, Tony Weitz of Hollister, Tina Ortiz (Carlos) of Salinas and Denise Weitz-Torres (Delbert) of Hollister, his loving wife, Joby Weitz of Hollister and his dog, Betsy. He is also survived by his grandchildren Desirey Viramontes, Justin Martinez, Shyanne Torres, Hunter Torres, Nicole Burns Weitz, Casandra Weitz, Anthony Weitz, Brooke Weitz, Olivia Ortiz, Isaiah Ortiz and Teresa Ortiz and his great-grandchildren, Benjamin Viramontes III, Bobby Viramontes and Ricky Viramontes.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Michael Weitz and Ida Olivia (Rosenquest) Weitz, his brothers, Jack Weitz, Billy Weitz and Dennis Ray Weitz and his great-granddaughter, Jasmin Ortiz.

 Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 11:30 A.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Military rites will be offered by VFW Post 9242. A reception will follow the services. Private cremation will be followed by private family inurnment.
