Has concerns about electing attorney Matthew Wendt to the Morgan Hill City Council

As much as would like to have a competitive Council race, I have great concerns in the election of Matthew Wendt.Â
He is an attorney that “defends developers, general contractors and subcontractors “ http://www.menekshelaw.com/attorney-profiles/matthew-j-wendt/. His open support for development of farmland in the city’s South East Quadrant falls in line with his legal background and current employer.
I wonder if his interest in this year’s Council race is not so much about our community as it is about his potential financial interests. I mention this because I have seen many single issue or personal issue candidates come forth to represent their clients or personal intentions which would add bias to Council’s decision making.
Since he has no previous public experience, and there is little campaign literature, I am left with questions. His answers at the open Community Forum regarding the annexation of county agricultural land where he states an equal amount of agricultural land will be preserved is grossly incorrect and indicates a lack of knowledge in an area that will have a significant impact on Morgan Hill’s future.
On another point, I found it difficult to differentiate Mr. Wendt from current Council views. During the forum he was agreeing with current efforts. I was left with another question what will he bring differently to the dais and I found none.
