All schools within Morgan Hill Unified School District will be closed Monday, Oct. 8 due to a furlough for all staff. It’s the only furlough day so far scheduled this year.
The furlough day was passed by the school board this summer and save about $200,000. The overall budget reductions for 2012-13 totaled $1.2 million, according to MHUSD.
A second furlough day may be necessary in the month of May if Gov. Jerry Brown implements mid-year cuts, though that might depend on the passing of Prop 38, which asks voters to extend an income tax increase to support public education.
