Sobrato High took the long trip to San Francisco to challenge Blossom Valley Athletic League West Valley Division opponent University High School on Monday.
Bulldogs coach Mike Niehoff, who has 35 years of field hockey experience, whether it be playing or coaching, said, “That was the worst field I have seen.”
Coupled with the poor conditions, the Bulldogs were without two key players and were unable to get back to Morgan Hill with a win, suffering a tough 1-0 decision.
“I know the players were disappointed as we had previously beaten University High 3-2 on a good pitch,” Niehoff said.
The Bulldogs are at home Thursday against San Jose.
