The Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce is creating a buzz amongst local merchants and shoppers with a new rewards-based loyalty program with a smartphone app known as BuzZub.
“Today, your customers and consumers virtually live with their cell phones,” the chamber’s pitch to local businesses reads. “Let us help you design a program to give cash back to loyal customers and keep them coming back to your stores again and again while simultaneously building a new customer base.”
Customers make a purchase and then get a designated amount back on the BuzZub phone app by scanning the POS, browser or a supplied phone/tablet. Cashback rewards are highly valued by consumers compared to points, according to the chamber.
Those rewards can then be used at any of the participating stores. Consumers can also donate their cashback rewards to charities and nonprofits. This creates a reason for the charities to send consumers shopping to the participating merchants as a preferred shopping destination, according to the chamber.
The chamber is charging less than $30 month for a small business with less than 10 full-time employees. Current participating stores include BookSmart, Jimmy P’s Pizzeria, GVA Cafe, Rumour Has It Salon, Thinker Toys, Morgan Hill Wine Shop and Cigar Company.
“Your marketing budget goes much further with cashback rewards than with discounts that devalue your product. Besides, cashbacks are remembered and get spent right back at the participating businesses, mostly where the rewards were earned,” the chamber pitch continues. “The low monthly fees get recouped within a few days. The biggest benefit comes from the increased visibility and resulting new customer acquisition through the cross-pollination of consumers across participating merchants.”
Chamber staff will host two “quick preview meeting” of the smartphone program 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the chamber office, 17485 Monterey Road. For a limited time, a discount is offered to chamber members.
