Sobrato needed one half to score what St. Francis-Watsonville did in three quarters.
And the Sharks actually shot fairly well for the entire game.
The Bulldogs sank St. Francis 75-69 in the most thrilling match ups of the day at the Bob Hagen Tournament.
Sobrato is now slated to play Gilroy in the semi finals tonight in Day 2 of the tournament.
The teams combined for 24 3-pointers made and had four players between the two teams put up 20 points.
Kenzeddie Williams led all shooters with 28 points, hitting six treys, including three in the second quarter alone.
Luke Walton followed with 21 points, including five triples.
The Bulldogs scored 47 points in the first half, including 25 in the first quarter led by Williams’ 10 points.
But for the offensive explosion, the game wasn’t decided until the final 30 seconds.
Sobrato saw its 12-point lead collapse in the fourth quarter with the Sharks pulling to within four with 31.6 seconds left.
But a turnover on the inbound for St. Francis led to Sobrato going to the line as Kolby Nguyen hit two key free throws to put the Bulldogs up by six with 24 seconds left.
That effectively ended the game as the Bulldogs ran out the clock.
The two teams got going quickly as the first five shots taken in the game all went in.
After being tied 5-5, Sobrato went on a 12-5 run to take a comfortable lead.
Eventually, by the end of the quarter, the Bulldogs had gone on a 20-11 run to take a nine-point advantage.
That quickly grew behind the shooting of Williams and Walton, who put down four 3-pointers for a 47-35 lead at the break.
Sobrato’s shooting started to cool off in the third, putting up a comparatively paltry 13 points.
Even so, the defense did its job, holding St. Francis to 13 points and carrying a 12-point advantage into the final frame.
The Sharks started to heat up in the last quarter as Sobrato went up by 15 at one point only to see St. Francis go on a 13-4 scoring run.
