Dear Concerned Citizen, thanks for the kudos. Red Phone addressed the missing sign back in July. It’s good to see the property owner replaced the sign. As far as the police, Red Phone knows they read, so motorists, be careful out there. It is a dangerous turn, and you may be in line for a ticket.
Police should lead by example
“OK, so they got an excuse for the cell phones, and yes their job does require driving in manners that aren’t legal for the rest of us. But what about ‘leading by example?’ We’ve all seen them roll through stop signs when they weren’t in an obvious hurry. I’ve seen them stopped across the westbound lanes of Vineyard Boulevard between Chevron and Bank of America, totally obstructing traffic. That’s not legal. Tailgating and following too close is what really gets me. That’s just unsafe driving as well as illegal. At night, when you can’t tell it’s a cop, they do it hoping you speed. That’s entrapment. I can safely say I have no respect for police that do not lead by example.”
Dear No Respect, wow, sounds like someone’s gotten a ticket or two. Seriously, if police rolling through stop signs or following too close is the extent of your concerns about the police, Morgan Hill residents should consider themselves very safe.
So, what are the rules about watering
“If the city does not want the residents of Morgan Hill to water on Mondays and Tuesdays, nor between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., they should have said it is against the law to do so, not that residents should not do the above. Also, they should let the residents know what the penalty is.”
Dear State it Plainly, assuming you meant Thursday instead of Tuesday, then you are correct. It is against the law to water on Monday and Thursday as is watering between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. According to the Water Connection newsletter that was mailed to all residents in June:
“Irrigation watering is limited to five days per week and is not allowed on Mondays and Thursdays between April and October. For the period of November – March, irrigation is limited to one day per week and is only allowed on Wednesdays.”
The first violation will result in a written warning. The second, within a 12-month period, will cost $100. A third violation, again within a 12-month period, will cost $200, and any subsequent violations are $500.
