MORGAN HILL — Andrew Wilcox finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, and Danny Medaglia doubled twice for the Yankees, who outlasted the Rays, 13-12.
Teammate Collin Ingram doubled, and Jared Gunsky and J.T. Millers collected two singles. The Yankees’ pitching was headed by Jack Affourtit and Miller.
The Rays’ Steve Facio also came close to hitting for the cycle. He homered, doubled and singled. Alejandro Torres added a single and a pair of doubles, and Jeremy Urdiales two singles. Also for the Rays, Ian McGowen tripled and singled, and Jacob Jud and Richard Geraffo doubled.
Torres and McGowen pitched for the Rays.
Nationals 3, Athletics 2
Mike Williams singled twice, and pitchers Troy Moorehead, Evan Dean and Same Aptekar scattered six hits for the Nationals, who also received singles from Aptekar and Ben Hagiperos.
For the Athletics, Zach Riverson and Bradley Higgins tripled; and Blair Murphy and Anthony Saso singled.
Hunter Kirk and Saso combined to hold the Nationals to six hits.
Pirates 5, Royals 4
Ethan Cox, Brandon Lozada and Asa Jacob pitched for the Pirates, whose offense was led by Asa Jacob and Cole Griffin. Jacob tripled, and Griffin had a double and a single. Sean Martin, John Austin, Christian Knowles, Connor McGowen, Aaron Lam and Cox also singled.
Patrick Muller, Cole Campi, Mark Quinby and Justin Sanders took the hill for the Royals. Muller doubled, and Nicholas Pignone, Zach Clinger, Campi and Quinby singled.
Cubs 6, Red Sox 1
Garrison Griesdale and Mike Porras combined to get the win for the Cubs.
