Do you believe President Barack Obama’s job creation plan will
be successful?
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:

“Do you believe President Barack Obama’s job creation plan will be successful?” Yes: 3 No: 9

? Karen Anderson: “Depends on how you define success. I think it will create more jobs than if he did nothing.”

? Dave Appling: “It has a very good chance, but the devil is in the details. It may not be front-loaded enough to restore business confidence in 2010.”

? Bert Berson: “No. It is too indirect and will take too long.”

? Chris Bryant: “Yes, as politicians deem success. Employment will increase as the economy recovers and those that take incentive money will have a vested interest in claiming that jobs were created as a result of the stimulus regardless of whether these jobs would have been created anyway.”

? David Cohen: “Yes, in time. It will take a while for businesses to get back into the hiring game, but the Obama plan is a good one and will help the economy gain momentum.”

? Julian Mancias: “Yes. There are a lot of projects in this country that need to be done. In fact, in Morgan Hill we could fix the downtown flooding problems. Jobs, jobs, jobs!”

? Linda McNulty: “It could be successful, but my gut feeling is that we just can’t keep throwing money at this problem with a projected $1.5 trillion deficit. The estimated cost of this program is $50 – $200 billion dollars. If it puts my friends and family back to work I support it but its a risky use of tax payer dollars.”

? Henry Miller: “Let’s hope so. But how much of his plan can we expect to see the light of day? After all, using T.A.R.P funds and lower taxes on small business, both proposed by and endorsed by the Right, can only create disention. How can we expect the Right and Left to agree on such radical ideas? Ah, bi-partisanship, don’t you just love it?”

? Lisa Pampuch: “Even economists with many degrees have terrible prediction track records, so forecasts from economic amateurs like me are even more suspect. I like his plan’s focus on small business.”

? John Quick: I believe that it will create jobs and help to keep joblessness and the recession better controlled than they otherwise would have been. It is an appropriate use of the money.”

? Emily Shem-Tov: “Yes, many of the proposed pieces of the plan he outlined, if Congress implements them, should help restore some confidence and be successful in stimulating the creation of some new jobs.”

? Jeff Smith: “I do not. He said in his speech ‘We must spend our way out of this recession’ – well, no one has done more spending than he, in the form of hundreds of billions of (our tax) dollars, and it hasn’t improved the economy. This most recent job stimulus plan will add many billions more to our already incomprehensible debt. How does this president think massive government spending and crippling debt is going to fix our economy?”
