The Sobrato girls water polo team is undefeated through the first seven games of the season, including a first place win at the Stinky Rose Tournament at Christopher.
The Bulldogs outscored opponents 38-9 in four games at the Stinky Rose tourney.
Senior Maya Read was named tournament MVP.
She was joined by seniors Laeni Gross and Lana Burnett, junior Izzy Okamura and sophomore Abby Pfefferlen who were all named to the All Tournament First Team.
Coach Dave Burnett said Read, Okamura and Pfefferlen are drivers of the Bulldogs’ offense while Burnett plays a solid defense, often guarding teams’ best shooters.
In division play, Sobrato defeated Monterey 10-3, Harbor 7-3 and Stevenson 10-0.
That set up a match up with Evergreen Valley — who likewise went undefeated in division play — for the championship.
The Bulldogs cruised to an 11-3 win to capture the tournament win.
Sobrato adds these wins to its three previous at a tournament at Evergreen Valley.
The Bulldogs defeated Bullard 15-7 on Sept. 6 then defeated Evergreen 9-8 and Mt. Pleasant 16-9.
