Domingo Silos Armendariz left this world the morning of Sunday, April 21, 2013. It was Domingo’s wish that he pass on at home and be surrounded by his loved ones in his last moments. He also requested Indigenous song and ceremony in the tradition of his ancestors, which were provided by family, local drum circles and elders. “Mingo” led a hard life but thanks to the support of his family, Narcotics Anonymous and his belief in indigenous traditions and the Red Road, he was able to overcome addiction and incarceration. During his last 13 years he was able to enjoy his sobriety, his freedom and his family. He went to the casino with his wife, spoiled his grandchildren, watched his sons graduate from college, his daughter run for City Council and School Board, mentored countless NA members and recently released former convicts, was a fire tender and water bearer at the Temetzcali and Inipil ceremonies and a friend to all those hoping to transition into a healthy lifestyle. His children feel honored to have had him as a father and hope to see him in the next world.

He is survived by his wife Augustina “Sally” Armendariz, children Reymundo (Makeba), daughter Rebeca (Ruben), Gilbert (Laura); grandchildren Tauheedah, Domingo Tlecuauhtli aka “the Critter” Amaya India, Yoletzin and Ezequiel Joaquin. He is also survived by brothers Pete (Sofia), James (Maria), Robert (Lucy), sisters Virginia Rosas, Patricia Lindley (Mike), Rosa Guerra, Sally Gonzalez (Ed), Mary Armendariz, Beatrice Mitchell (Bob), Teresa O’neil (Dave) and brother-in-law Antonio Duran and wife Luz; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. Domingo was preceded in death by his parents Pedro Armendariz and Juana Silos, siblings Gilbert Armendariz, Jack Armendariz and Juanita “Jenny” Calderon.
