Sobrato is still looking for a win, but the improvement is obvious.
After falling 1-0 to Willow Glen on Tuesday, the Bulldogs had plenty to be happy about.
“They have improved a lot in trying hard and really wanting to improve. They were playing well as a team and you could tell by how much more they had possession of the ball and have opportunities for shots on goal,” said coach Hailey Klingenberg.
Sobrato held the Rams scoreless through the first half and capitalized on counter attack opportunities to get the offense going.
Willow Glen broke through early in the second half, finding the back of the cage to score the lone goal of the game.
“The only thing is they get down once the other team scores,” Klingenberg said. “I truly believe they have all the skill to do well and I think we’ll start to see that more as the second half of the season finishes.”
Klingenberg gave credit to center midfielder Maria Ciccone for helping the girls put pressure on Willow Glen for most of the game.
“She sees the open passes and help open up the field and got the ball through the other team’s defense for multiple breakaways during the game,” Klingenberg said. “She is a solid player who helps keep the team together and pushes all of them towards greatness.”
Sobrato will next hit the road for two games, traveling firs to Westmont Thursday.
