Dear Editor,

The Morgan Hill Unified School District needs many improvements vital to the education of our children. Unfortunately, the money required to pay for them is non-existent.

Our local school district is in a near pathetic condition:

Did you know Morgan Hill Unified School District has one trained technician for every 800 computers/servers?

Did you know that much of the technology equipment such as switches and servers used to connect schools to the district network and Internet are stored in attics or rooms often with inadequate ventilation, climate control, and are under-powered and under-wired?

Did you know our schools have no effective means for a parent, teacher or student to access grades, get lesson plans, or communicate with administration via the Internet? Did you know that most of the district’s teachers are not trained to use much of this needed technology?

We realize that the local public school district in Morgan Hill is on a downhill spiral. It is worth passing Measure E just for these basic technology upgrades. The provisions of Measure E for needed music, sports and ag department benefits will be gravy.

It will cost home owners about $96 per year. Seniors are exempt.

This is a low-cost investment in our children that will pay big dividends. Measure “E” is a no brainer.
