Hospice of the Valley (HOV), the first community-based hospice and leading provider and educator of end-of-life and bereavement care in Santa Clara County, has received a 2:1 challenge matching grant from the Sobrato Family Foundation totaling up to $153,750 over a two-year period. The Sobrato Family Foundation’s unrestricted funds will be used to support general operations and new funds raised will provide end-of-life care to underserved adults and children facing life-limiting illnesses. Hospice of the Valley has received the first installment of $75,000 and must now raise $75,000 in new matching funds to qualify for the second year grant award of $78,750, which includes a 5 percent increase for inflation costs. There is no matching requirement during the second year of the grant term.

“The Sobrato Family Foundation’s grant will help sustain our recent growth and allow us to continue to deliver the high quality care for which we are known in Santa Clara County,” said Sally Adelus, executive director of Hospice of the Valley. To help Hospice of the Valley meet the Sobrato Challenge, please send contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 4850 Union Ave., San Jose CA 95124. Please indicate on your check that it is for the ‘Sobrato Challenge.’ Credit cards accepted.
