EYESORE OF THE WEEK: Drainage Canal by VTA Station Has More Than Water in it

Do you know of a public piece of property, park, center or
building that looks unpleasant, blighted, distressed or is just
plain and simple an eyesore? If so, e-mail us the address or
nearest cross street and a brief sentence on its condition and
we’ll investigate what’s going on and who is responsible for the
property. Send your eyesore to ed******@*************es.com.
The storm drain channel next to Britton Middle School and the VTA Park and Ride bus station is filled with litter and garbage. The canal is located at the corner of W. Main and Hale avenues. The canal is part of the Little Llagas Creek. It carries water south on Hale Avenue through downtown Morgan Hill running parallel to Monterey Road to Gilroy and then all the way out to Watsonville, providing flood protection for portions of the South Valley.

The Santa Clara County Roads and Airports Department is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the channel along Hale Avenue. Contact the department at (408) 683-1240.
