History: Anaerobe Systems was founded in 1978 by Mike Cox. The company started in the garage. Its first business location was in Santa Clara for 10 years, then 10 years in San Jose. During the last 10 years the company has been in Morgan Hill. This past decade the company has grown to become the world leader in anaerobic microbiology. The company’s market is diagnostic medical microbiology. Mike Cox holds three patents in the field of anaerobic microbiology. The company has 24 full-time employees.
Services: Anaerobe Systems provides a diagnostic tool to laboratories such as specimen collection kits, petri plates, test tubes, educational software, textbooks and hands-on training. It has active research in the area of renewable energy production. It’s producing pure hydrogen from bell peppers, garlic, molasses, grass clipping, etc. Its goal in this endeavor is to make Morgan Hill the next energy capital of the world. Pepper-powered pickup trucks are coming soon, Cox said.
