Italian Harvest Festa and car show

– The Italian Harvest Festa will feature live music and entertainment from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Uesugi Farms, 14485 Monterey Road. Dance, enjoy Italian Opera or try a game of Bocce Ball. Browse vehicles in the all Italian car and truck show Saturday and the motorcycle show Sunday. Parking is $5. Admission is free.

Learn all about the AAUW

– Join the Morgan Hill Branch of the American Association of University Women at its Fall Membership Brunch at 11 a.m. Sunday. The group will be celebrating 100 years of California Woman Suffrage. Prospective members are encouraged to attend to learn more about AAUW and to preview upcoming programs and activities. The event will be held in a member’s home.

Learn to grow onions and garlic

– Attend a free home gardening workshop presented by the Morgan Hill Community Garden from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at The Granary, 17500 Depot St., and hear UCCE Master Gardener Sue Zaslaw, share tips for successfully growing edible alliums in a backyard garden. Learn how to grow a gourmet garden of bulbing onions, scallions, garlic, shallots, leeks and chives. Learn how to select varieties, prepare the soil, when and how to plant, grow, harvest and preserve alliums. Handouts will be provided.

Senior tap classes

– Join the Fabulous Flappers, a senior tap dance group, for classes in tap from 10 a.m. to noon, Mondays at Lana’s Dance Studio, 330 Tennant Ave. Classes begin Sept. 12.

Visit with police

– The Morgan Hill Police Department and the Community Law Enforcement Foundation invite the community to attend the Annual Public Safety Day & Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday Sept. 17 at the Morgan Hill police station, 16200 Vineyard Blvd.

The event provides residents with an opportunity to get to know their public safety representatives and see up close the tools they use. They will also be incorporating an eWaste Fundraiser into this year’s event to help raise funds to buy equipment for the Morgan Hill Police Department. The event includes tours of the department, SWAT trucks and other MHPD vehicles on display, a demonstration with K-9 with Pax and officer David Ray, a free child seat check, food, games and prizes.

Catch a free outdoor movie

– The Morgan Hill Downtown Association is presenting its annual free Downtown Movie Night Sept. 17, at the Community & Cultural Center, with the showing of “Grease.” Come out and enjoy a free movie under the stars. Dress in your best ’50s attire. There will be free ice cream and pony rides.
