Smith plays martyr in declining pay raise, system needs changing
Dear Editor,
I’m writing in response to your editorial, “Declining pay raise sends message, sets and example.” I love how Wes Smith opted not to take a pay raise. That’s a great start.
However, let’s face it, he’s got an annual salary of $190,000, which is more than enough considering many of us have both spouses working, are trying to support a family, and still don’t pull in a combined salary equal to Smith’s.
I don’t appreciate him, or any of the school board trying to play the ‘martyr’ to make themselves look better.
The schools are lacking. The whole system needs helps and paying these people absurd amounts of money isn’t the solution to fixing the problem.
How about we pay them after the financial crises has been rectified with the money that’s left over?
