Three men suspected of stealing $8,000 worth of designer eye glasses from a Morgan Hill optometry office were charged with second degree robbery, authorities said.

James Delacruz, Paul Samsotha and Edward O will appear in court at South County Courthouse next week, Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office spokeswoman Lisa McCrary said.

Delacruz, 21 and Samsotha, both of Union City, will appear for plea hearings Tuesday, McCrary said. O will appear for his arraignment Friday, Aug. 12.

Delacruz and Samsotha were arrested July 29 by Morgan Hill police for their alleged involvement in the May 5 armed robbery. O, 29 of San Jose, was arrested for his involvement in the same crime July 30.

The three are accused of robbing Your Eye’s Image, 419 Vineyard Town Center, police said.

Morgan Hill police responded to the store about 1:39 p.m. that day, in response to a call reporting a possible armed robbery, according to Sgt. Shane Palsgrove.

When officers arrived, the female store clerk told them that an unknown Asian male adult approached the counter. The man pulled up his shirt as if to expose a weapon in his waistband. The clerk did not see a weapon. The clerk then noticed another Asian male adult who was emptying a display stand of more than $8,000 worth of name brand eyeglasses into a bag, police said. The clerk ran to the back of the store and told another employee they were being robbed.

The suspects ran out of the store and were chased by a customer who was inside the store. They entered a silver four-door Mercedes, where a third suspect was waiting, police said.

No one was injured in the robbery, Palsgrove said.
