Kim Lemos, the former Live Oak High School assistant principal who stabbed her husband in a domestic violence dispute last year, resigned Aug. 5 almost a year after the incident.

Lemos was arrested in August 2010 after she turned herself in after a physical altercation in which she injured her husband Tim Lemos. She pleaded no contest to disturbing the peace, a misdemeanor and was sentenced to attend a 32-hour anger management course. She did not serve any jail time.

According to the personnel order in the Morgan Hill Unified School District’s board agenda, she resigned as a teacher from Central Continuation High School. For the 2010-2011 school year, she was assistant principal at Live Oak High School, where her duties included dealing with discipline, attendance, athletics, and school safety.

Superintendent Wes Smith, citing a personnel matter, declined to comment.

After the stabbing, Lemos continued to work at Live Oak and was not on administrative leave during the school year. According to section 44940 of the California Education Code, an employee is only given a mandatory leave of absence if the charge is related to a sexual offense, selling controlled substances to minors, or using a controlled substance.
