Officers from the Gilroy Police Department arrested three men at
11:35 p.m. Wednesday near the 8200 block of Arroyo Circle in Gilroy
on suspicion of illegally possessing and being under the influence
of narcotics.
Officers from the Gilroy Police Department arrested three men at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday near the 8200 block of Arroyo Circle in Gilroy on suspicion of illegally possessing and being under the influence of narcotics.
When GPD officers were dispatched to the scene regarding reports of suspicious suspects, officers observed Morgan Hill residents Michael Gatch, 31; and Christopher Montarbo, 25; along with Gilroy resident David Lam, 28; displaying “extreme objective symptoms of narcotic intoxication,” according to reports.
During their initial investigation, officers located narcotics ingestion paraphernalia, along with multiple prescription receipts for narcotics including Oxycodone, Hydrocodon, Alprazolan and Diazepan with other people’s names on them.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers continued their investigation. They searched a motel room in Morgan Hill and a residence on the 1400 block of Amber Drive in Gilroy. The management of the Morgan Hill motel was unaware of the suspect’s activities, according to reports.
Evidence seized during these searches includes more than 500 pills of illegally possessed prescription narcotics, heroin possessed for sale, money, stolen physician prescription pads and evidence to support the illegal sales of narcotics, according to the GPD press release.
Police say the investigation remains active as GPD continues to investigate leads.
According to the GPD press release, “the abuse of prescription medications/narcotics continues to rise. These medications, when used without a physician’s recommendation, could have severe adverse consequences.”
Police say community members are encouraged to speak with their children, family and friends regarding potential drug abuse and to call 9-1-1 if they recognize someone who may be incoherent, unresponsive and under the influence of a narcotic.
