The San Martin Lions Club has made a $10,000 donation to the Lions Clubs International Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund.
The money, raised largely through the club’s weekly bingo games, was diverted from a fund usually reserved for charity projects in the South County area.
“The funds we have generated through bingo have enabled the club to meet some of the immediate needs in the hurricane disaster area,” club president Marie Dollar said. “The Lions Club members thank everyone who contributes to this important work and for truly helping us make a difference in our immediate community and beyond.”
Nationwide, Lions Clubs have raised about $270,000 for hurricane relief services ranging from food and clothing grants to eyeglass distribution.
