Dear Editor,
I am helping to get the ball rolling to unseat Congressman Richard Pombo in next year’s election. Toward that end, I have invited the leading opposing candidate, Dr. Jerry McNerney to my home. I would like to extend the invitation to all Morgan Hill residents to meet Jerry and join our effort.
Pombo is not serving constituents in this part of the 11th District very well and consistently has taken extreme Conservative stands on almost all issues. A recent poll showed his approval rating has dropped to 31 percent overall in Congressional District 11, amazingly low for a sitting incumbent.
Dr. McNerney established his political credibility as a winning write-in candidate for the Democratic primary in 2004. In the 2005 Congressional election, he was very strong as a newcomer, nearly winning in Morgan Hill. He also has a strong environmental record….a big contrast to Pombo’s written advocacy to gut the Environmental Protection Act.
