Orchard Valley Storm clinched first place in District II’s top
spring division with a 2-0 win over the MVLA Revolution in Mountain
View. The teams represented a contrast in styles, as the Revolution
brought the league’ top offense into the game against a Storm
defense that has surrendered only one goal all season. The Storm
defense was tested late in the first half when a Revolution striker
broke in on keeper Rebekah Inouye. Inouye lunged at the Revolution
shot, slowing it on it path to the goal. Storm midfielder Amber
Thomas swept in behind her keeper and cleared the ball just before
it went in the goal. The Storm defense stiffened after the close
call.

The Orchard Valley Storm clinched first place in District II’s top spring division with a 2-0 win over the MVLA Revolution in Mountain View. Backs Tori Gulla, Sydney Barker, Tula Urban and Michaela Swensen, along with keepers Inouye and Macey Dunne shut down the Revolution for the rest of the game. The Storm offense came alive in the second half as Molly Cuevas scored the first goal of the game on a beautiful assist from Tula Urban. Rebekah Inouye scored the final goal on a cross from Taylor Slattery. The Storm improved its record to 8-0-0 with one game left to play.
Storm 3, Redwood City 1
The Orchard Valley Storm made an early morning trip to Redwood City to play the Juventus Firebrands this past Saturday. The Storm scored early in the game when center midfielder Amber Thomas found Sarah Lewis unmarked on the left post. Lewis beat the keeper for the quick lead. The Storm extended the lead to 2-0 when Monica Luna crossed the ball from the right side to Molly Cuevas for the goal. While the Storm played well throughout, the stars of the game were Emily Kyle and Rebekah Inouye. Kyle dominated the right side of the field while playing both forward and midfield. Inouye made a pair of great saves as keeper in the first half and scored the final goal of the game on a 25 yard blast from right midfield.
Storm 5, Palo Alto 0
The Storm won their second game of the weekend in dominating fashion. The Storm got on the board early when Amber Thomas found Emily Kyle at the left post. Kyle quickly passed the ball to Taylor Slattery who punched it in. Monica Luna scored a pair of goals, one on an assist from Tula Urban, to increase the lead to 3-0. The Storm went up 4-0 when Amber Thomas found Sydney Barker who scored on a spectacular volley from 15 yards out. Tori Gulla completed the scoring when she scored her first goal of the season on a cross form the right side by Thomas.

Galaxy 10 Meteors 8
Another close game played by the Meteors in the Junior division. In the first inning, Jenna Havstad had a double play by catching a pop fly and throwing a runner out, then hit a double to score Lexie Evans.
In the second inning, with the bases loaded, Katie Mains from the Galaxy hit a two-run double. Katie Obbema ended the inning for the Galaxy with an unassisted double play, tagging a runner out and getting a force out at third base.
In the bottom of same inning, the Meteors had two doubles – one by Melissa Sigona and another by Katie Bueno. The Galaxy had great pitching by Katie Mains and a double by Courtney Clampett in the third.
In the last inning, the Galaxy scored two runs and the Meteor scored three.
