William (Bill) J. Vogel Sr. 87, of Gilroy, passed away peacefully in his home amongst family on February 21, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his father William J. Vogel, mother Ida Vogel, and brother Werner Vogel. He is survived by Louise P. Vogel, his wife of 56 years, his children Bill J. Vogel, Jr. and spouse Sandy, grandsons Garrett and Scott Vogel; daughter Natalie Black and spouse Jim, grandsons Weston Black and spouse Ashley and great-granddaughters Madison and Blakeley; Lucas Black and spouse Alicia, Jacob Black, and Christian Black; daughter Audrey Blanding and spouse Steve; brother Joe Vogel and spouse Mona; sister Ida Knowles; sister Julia Gimenez and spouse Pete; brother Albert Vogel and spouse Rosie; brother Eddie Vogel and spouse Joann; sister Elizabeth Cheadle and spouse Bob. He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the devoted caregivers and friend Emely Knapp for her help and compassion during this difficult time.
Born July 25, 1926 in El Centro, California and moved to Gilroy with his family during his teen years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946. Upon his separation from service he purchased land in Gilroy and built the family homestead. He spent his adult life working in carpentry and construction. He loved bowling, hunting, fishing, camping, driving through the countryside and sitting in the sunshine. He will be remembered by doing for others with his skilled hands.
