first-team Scholar All-American as part of Pop Warner
’s annual awards program to celebrate the accomplishments of
gifted scholar-athletes.
Morgan Hill fifth grader Zachary Vaiana has been selected as a first-team Scholar All-American as part of Pop Warner’s annual awards program to celebrate the accomplishments of gifted scholar-athletes.
Vaiana will represent the Morgan Hill Raiders and the Peninsula Region Pop Warner organizations for California at the National Scholar All-American conference at Disney’s Colorado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. on Saturday, May 29.
Award winners are required to have a 98.5-percent grade average.
Several of Vaiana’s teammates also were honored, receiving earned second-team mention, including Matthew Avila, Matthew Acosta, Karandeep Bassi, Dominic Bejarano, Cody Coleman, Michael Della Maggiore, Daniel Huffman, Taylor Lappano, Jordan Matanane, Jennifer Shorr and Sydnie Usuki.
They will join Vaiana at the national conference.
The first award winner, former Congressman Jack Kemp, will also be honored at the dinner.
The event is in its 44th year.
