John R. Winn died May 25, 2004, in San Francisco after a brief
illness. He was 71.
John R. Winn died May 25, 2004, in San Francisco after a brief illness. He was 71.
Mr. Winn owned and operated Winn and Co. Insurance Brokers from 1955-94. Since 1994 John has remained active in the business which his son Don now owns. Mr. Winn loved water-skiing and motorcycles. He loved to be on the water with his classic Chris Craft or his offshore race boat. Mr. Winn was a Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the VFW and the B.P.O.E.
Mr. Winn is survived by his wife, Carolyn Winn, of Gilroy. He is the father of Donald Winn of Hollister and Patty Dumas of Purcell, Okla., and stepfather of Mark, Matt, Michelle and Michael Wallace. John is the brother of Peggy Ford of Nipomo, Mike Winn and Pat Winn, both of Hollister. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friends.
A memorial service was this morning, May 28, at St. Mary’s Church in Gilroy.
The family asks that any donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or St. Mary’s Medical Center, San Francisco.
Services were under the direction of Habing Family Funeral home.
