You may have heard the term
“Reverse Weight Shift.” If you have ever taken a lesson before
and your instructor told you were falling into that position or a
low handicap player in your group mentioned it, what exactly did
they mean? A better understanding of the incorrect weight shift is
recognizing an improper spine tilt.

Assuming you have the correct posture at address, the spine angle should remain at the same tilt throughout the swing. When you tilt your spine toward the target at the top of the backswing you are allowing your weight to stay on the left foot (if you’re right-handed) and the only direction it can shift is back to the right foot on the downswing. The result is either a weak shot to the right or worse yet that “fat” shot that hits the earth before the ball. So maintain that spine angle throughout the swing or see one our PGA professionals for help in getting you back on track.
