A National Day of Prayer will be celebrated Thursday, May 6, bringing together members of Christian denominations to worship and pray for the community, state and nation.

In Morgan Hill the day will start with a continental breakfast at Crossroads Christian Center, 145 Wright Ave., 7-9 a.m. and will be followed by private and joint prayer.

The prayer format will be similar to “Concerts of Prayer,” with local pastors leading the assembled in prayer before prayer at individual tables for suggested topics, followed by worship.

The NDP was created by Congress in 1952 and, in 1988, set for the first Thursday in May; the honorary chair for the 2004 NDP is Oliver North.

This day is offered to all Americans, regardless of religion, to celebrate their faith through prayer. The efforts of the NDP Task Force are executed specifically in accordance with its Judeo-Christian beliefs. Tickets are $5 per person; buying tickets in advance will help organizers buy the right amount of food. Help with selling tickets, planning, decorating, breakfast, publicity, worship and packets are welcome. Tickets are available at BookSmart, 17415 Monterey Road at West Second Street or local churches. Details: Julie, 779-2820.
