For proof that an undefeated regular season means little or nothing in the league finals, just ask Live Oak High junior standout Lee Bell.

After rolling through the Tri-County Athletic League competition during the dual meet season, Bell faltered in Wednesday’s TCAL Diving Champion-ships at Live Oak High on Wednesday.

After a few poor dives early in the competition, Bell couldn’t catch Salinas freshman Sam Figueroa, who ended up winning the league title.

Figueroa is the son of former Olympic water polo player Gary Figueroa.

Bell ended up second, with Acorn teammate Stephen Shope third and Salinas’ Chris Domaloag took fourth. All four are headed to the Central Coast Section finals.,

Bell made the CCS finals as a sophomore last season.

In the girls competition, Salinas took the top three spots, with Live Oak’s Breanna Stevenson, Bronwyn Parsons and Amy McGeever finishing fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
