Asteroids 4, Meteors 3
An amazing game by both the Asteroids and the Meteors to start the Championship weekend. The Meteors went out to a 2-0 lead in the first two innings, but the Asteroids came back in the third with walks by Courtney Clampett and Taylor Pencer a single by Melissa Sigona and an RBI single by Amanda Morgan.
Gail Wiselogel followed up with a key hit to drive in two runs. With the score 3-3 in the fourth inning and a runner for the Meteors on third base, Katie Machado struck out 3 Meteors in a row to keep them from going ahead.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, Annika Camacho hit the game winning home run to put the Asteroids into the Championship game.
Asteroids 4, Galaxy 3
What an exciting game to keep the Asteroids in the Championship Game picture. The Asteroids jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the 1st inning on singles by Amanda Morgan and Kirsten Doting and a key double by Madi Aguilar. In the field, an amazing catch in centerfield by Heather Merritt kept the Galaxy from scoring. Going into the final inning the game was tied. Taylor Pencer doubled and stole third base. Katie Machado was robbed of a game winning home run as the Galaxy’s left fielder made a terrific play. With one out in the final inning, Courtney Clampett laid down a perfect suicide squeeze bunt and Taylor Pencer scored the winning run. The Asteroids kept their hopes alive in the tournament with some terrific pitching by Gail Wiselogel and Katie Machado. In addition, Annika Camacho, Erin Brenneman and Melissa Sigona played terrific defense.
