Just in time for their first swimming competition Aug. 6-8, the 50-meter Olympic sized pool at the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center has been cleared for competitions.
Following an anonymous tip claiming the pool was too short by up to an inch. Surveyors were hired to verify the claims.
The pool was then measured to long by as much as half an inch, prompting a third survey, conducted July 19. The third survey found the pool to be just right and has been certified for competition uses.
Glenn Ritter, project manager for the Aquatics Center, said further surveying should not be necessary.
Bryant Surveys out of San Ramon conducted the survey at a cost of $2,500. Bryant Surveys mainly does work for high rise buildings, but has done five other pools, said Melissa Sough, office manager at Bryant Surveys.
Sough said the instruments used have a margin of error of up to an eight of an inch.
With the 50-meter pool issue, behind them, the Aquatics Center is able to concentrate on entertaining the public.
