Cinequest Film Festival is now accepting submissions of feature and short films of artistic, social or stylistic merit.

Cinequest 15 will run Wednesday, March 2, through Sunday, March 13, 2005, in San Jose. All styles, genres and lengths of films are accepted.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has elected to recognize the Cinequest Film Festival as a qualifying festival for the Short Films category for the 78th Annual Academy Awards. Recipients of the Best Short Narrative and Best Short Animation prizes will qualify for consideration for an Academy Award without the standard theatrical run, provided the film complies with the Academy’s rules.

For more information on Academy rules, see www.oscars.org or call 310-247-3000.

The submission deadline for shorts is Oct. 8, and for features is Oct. 29. The late deadline is Nov. 12, for an additional fee. Works in progress are accepted as long as the films/videos are complete by the festival screening.

Entry fee is $40 before deadline and $50 for late submissions. There is a discounted entry rate of $35 for those registering through www.withoutabox.com and $45 for late submissions. Filmmakers can download a printable entry form at www.cinequest.org, fill it out and fax to 995-5713. Details: 995-5033.
