Quickbooks workshops

This workshop is designed for the small business owner who uses or would like to learn how to use QuickBooks 2004. QuickBooks 2004 is one of the most widely used small business accounting software programs available to small business owners. Learn to manage and reconcile business accounts, write and print checks, keep track of income and expenses, accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, inventory, payroll, purchase orders, estimating and many other bookkeeping tasks that are relevant to run a successful business. This is a 3-week progressive course that takes you through the very basics of getting your business started to learning how to synchronize your QuickBooks contacts with other contact management programs such as Outlook. Please feel free to bring your laptop with QuickBooks 2004 already installed. The workshops take place Thursday, Aug. 12, 19 and 26, 6-8 p.m. at the Gavilan College SBDC, in the Dry Creek Village, 8351-E Church St., Gilroy. The cost is $90 payable in advance. Customer service workshop

Learn why customer service skills are so important, the keys to quality service and the 10 deadly “sins” of customer service. Gain the tools to deal with challenging customers and good customer service strategies and much, much more. Starting your own business

Learn how to get started the right way by participating in this 2-hour workshop presented by the Gavilan College Small Business Development Center. “Starting Your Own Business” presents an overview of marketing essentials, produce selection, business goal setting, legal issues, licenses required, risk evaluation, bookkeeping, financing and management issues. Attend this workshop and get your questions answered. The first workshop takes place Tuesday, Aug. 10, 5:30-8 p.m. at the Gavilan College SBDC office in the Dry Creek Village, 8351-E Church St., Gilroy. The second workshop takes place Wednesday, Aug. 11, 6-8 p.m. at the Briggs Building, 365 4th St., Room 1, Hollister. The cost is $20 payable in advance or at the door. Basic bookkeeping workshop

This workshop is for the small business owner who knows that bookkeeping is important for success, but is intimidated, confused, or unskilled in keeping financial records. Get control of your business with the basic, written (no computers), double entry bookkeeping system, along with simple filing and record keeping techniques. Business banking, auto and petty cash records and working with an accountant will also be touched on in this fast passed workshop. The workshop takes place Tuesday, Aug. 10, noon-3 p.m. at the Gavilan College SBDC offices in the Dry Creek Village Center, 8351-E Church Street, Gilroy.
